Governor for more emphasis on corporate social responsibility programmes

ITANAGAR, March 4: State Governor Gen (Rtd) J.J Singh visited the dam site under construction 110 MW Pare Hydro electric project, near Doimukh here on Feb 28 last. Gen (Rtd) Singh, who is closely monitoring all the development projects in the State, especially those initiated by Prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh inspected the site and had in-depth interaction with the NEEPCO officials.

            Expressing his delight that the project got the clearance by the Cabinet Committee for Economic affairs, the Governor urged upon the executing agency to expedite progress, reports PRO to Governor.

            The Governor, while exhorting the NEEPCO to be part of ‘Team Arunachal’ by contributing towards sustained income generating activities to the rural masses through Self Help Groups, also advised the NEEPCO to give emphasis on Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, which he felt will not only ensure good rapport with the local populace but also help them in socio-economic development of the State. He further recommended NEEPCO to adopt few schools, some primary health centers and develop some children parks.

Earlier on his arrival to the site, the Governor was received by NEEPCO Executive Director T.C. Borgohain and Head of Pare Hydro Electric Power Project cum General Manager, Smti Mridula Das and NEEPCO officials. Local MLA Ngurang Pinch, Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Bidol Tayeng, former MP Nabum Rebia and hosts of local public were present on the occasion.

Executive Director M. Deka gave a power point presentation on the latest status of the projects, including other projects under NEEPCO in the State on the occasion.

            It may be mentioned here that the foundation stone of the Pare Hydro Electric Power Project was laid by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on January 31st, 2008 and is being executed by the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation LTD (NEEPCO). The Memorandum of Agreement for execution and operation of 110 Mega Watt Pare Hydro Electric Project was signed between North Eastern Electric Power Corporation LTD (NEEPCO) and Government of Arunachal Pradesh in presence of the Union Minister for Power, Sushil Kumar Shinde, on Sep 21, 2006 at Banquet Hall, Itanagar.
