Governor discusses security issues of the state with Union HM & NSA

Itanagar, Mar 4: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Gen JJ Singh, who is on an official tour to National Capital, met Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram and National Security Advisor (NSA) Shiv Shankar Menon at New Delhi on Tuesday March 2 last. This was the first meeting of the Governor with NSA after Menon assumed office, reports PRO to Governor.

            In the meeting, Gen Singh gave an overview of the law and order situation and important security issues of the State. He also discussed the important developmental issues of the State including a focussed approach to Border Area Development.

 
            Gen Singh emphasised an early formalisation of the Border Trade Land Custom Station at Pangsau pass, as it will give thrust to Border trade with Myanmar. The green field airport at Itanagar also came up for discussions and momentum for early progress of the same is required it was felt. 

            To give further impetus to tourism in the State, Gen Singh discussed the need to make the process of obtaining inner line permits easier for tourists in the meeting.

            Raising of the first Arunachal Scouts Battalion, which also was taken up in the meeting, is likely to take place in this financial year and more battalions will be considered in the next plan.
