Singh urges Army to work out strategies against addiction

Itanagar, Sept 7: Work out strategies against drug addition along with your normal duties, said Arunachal Pradesh Governor Gen J.J Singh, while addressing a Sainik Sammelan of 26 Maratha Light Infantry at Chowkham in Lohit district here on Sept 4 last. He asked the local administration and indigenous people to eradicate the drug addiction from the area and stressed on bringing back the addicts to correct path through Sadbhawna Project.

            The Governor, who was on a day long visit to Chowkham, expressed his appreciation on the high working standard of the battalion and operational successes. He said, I am very happy that you have been maintaining very good relation with civil administration and most importantly with the indigenous people of the area. You should further cement it through projects which you have already taken up, like adoption of schools, etc.

The Honorary Colonel of the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment, Gen Singh pointed, during the operation you have to ensure by all means that no innocent person is harassed or harm.

Earlier, the Governor and the First Lady Anupama Singh were received at the battalion headquarters by Col P.L. Jayram, commanding officer of 26 Maratha LI. A Maratha cultural programme was presented on the occasion. Gen Singh, who was also commissioned from the same regiment interacted with personnel of the battalion and had Bara Khana with them, reports PRO to Governor.
