Governor golf orientation camp concludes

Itanagar, June 8: There is every possibility that tomorrow we may have the second Tiger Wood from Arunachal Pradesh, said Governor Gen JJ Singh, while addressing in the valedictory of the Golf Orientation Camp on June 6 last at Raj Bhavan Golf Course, here today. Expressing his hope that all the participants have immensely benefited from the camp, Gen Singh said, Arunachal Pradesh, where there is very less facilities for sports, the trainees had the opportunity to be coached by expert and famous professional coach like Ali Sher and his assistant Shyam Lal.

It is the first step, Gen Singh pointed, if we work hard and dedicated in our approach, we may have players from Arunachal Pradesh in bigger circuit, who can and will earn names for the State and Country.

Speaking on the occasion, Sports and Youth Affairs Assistant Director Ramesh Linggi profusely thanked the Governor and the State first lady for their initiatives and motivations in organizing the event, which is first of its kind. Indian Golf Union coach Ali Sher also spoke on the occasion.

The Governor, on behalf of people of Arunachal Pradesh presented mementoes, a Mishmi pipe and Adi Galuk (Coat) to the coach and his assistant on the occasion. Participation Certificates were awarded to the trainees by the first couple.

The Camp, which started on June 2, was teed off by the Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs D.S. Pandit. Total of fifty-one participants, including school children, army personnel andsenior government officials took part in it, organized by the department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Arunachal Pradesh. The trainees are divided into three groups, i.e. Kameng, Siang and Lohit, in the names of major rivers of the State. The first session starts at 7.00 am, while the second session begins from 8.45 am. Third session in the evening from 4.30 pm onwards. Each session continues for one and half hours.

Students from 13 (Thirteen) schools are attending the camp. Participants are from the schools of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Meghalaya. There were 9 (nine) girl students and 10 (Ten) adults including two ladies. It was conducted at Raj Bhavan Golf Course, which has been revived by His Excellency the Governor in a record time of six month and also at Indira Gandhi Park, Itanagar, reports PRO to Governor.
