Investment grade energy audit completed

ITANAGAR, March 10: As the follow up of action to the State Governor’s announcement of the Governor’s Cup for the most energy efficient government building, the Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA) in collaboration with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Government of India has undertaken Investment Grade Energy Audit of fifteen government buildings.

            The building included, Raj Bhavan, Civil Secretariat, Vidyut Bhawan, Banquet Hall, office building of Deputy Commissioner, Yupia, chief engineer, PHED and Chief Engineer PWD (WZ), BSNL building, Pasighat and Naharlagun General Hospitals, Agriculture Directorate building, Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic, Itanagar, NERIST main building, Nirjuli and Chimpu and Naharlagun Kendriya Vidhyalayas, reports PRO to Governor.

            APEDA Project Officer Sanjay Kumar Shahi informed that Investment Grade Energy Audit is just completed and detail project report is now under process. Once it is ready, it will be handed over to the concerned departments, he said adding the departments thereafter will take measures to minimize the wastage.

Stating, that energy saved is energy generated and one unit of energy saved is equivalent to two units of energy generated, Project Officer pointed the department initiating best steps to conserve energy and highest percentage of energy saved will receive the Governors Cup on the occasion of the Energy Conservation Day on Dec 14, 2009.

As an effort to arrest the wastage of energy especially in the government office buildings, the Governor, Gen (Rtd) JJ Singh had announced the Cup, while gracing the seminar on Energy Efficiency and Renewal Energy on Dec 23 last.

Epic Energy (P) Ltd, Navi Mumbai has been engaged to provide the consultancy services for the Investment Grade Energy Audit of these buildings and prepare Detail Project reports to suggest the reforms or the means by which energy can be conserved or saved in the buildings, the report added.
