Itanagar, May 11: Governor Gen JJ Singh termed the commemoration day of three decades of service by the Ramakrishna Mission to the people of Arunachal Pradesh as a red-letter day and congratulated the entire Ramakrishna Mission Sanstha for thirty years of dedicated and loving care service to Arunachalees.

Addressing the people on the occasion of commemoration of three decades of service by the Ramakrishna Mission to the people of Arunachal Pradesh at Vivekananda Hall here on Sunday, May 10 last, Gen Singh thanked the organization, adding, I am truly touched by the spiritual and philanthropic approach of Ramakrishna Mission.

The Governor, who earlier inaugurated the new OPD building of Ramakrishna Mission Hospital said, it is not the modernity and excellence of this hospital that is so impressive, but the approach of people who are involved in it, reports PRO to Governor.

Recording his appreciation for the Sanstha, Gen Singh appealed the Ramakrishna Mission to double the strength of its nursing school and requested them to start another nursing school in Eastern part of the state where he feels their services is predominantly required.

Gen Singh pointed, the response to the felt needs of the tribal people, the unbridled commitment is indeed praiseworthy, adding that the Hospital has continued its good tradition of conducting ground breaking surgical operations and other health care initiatives in its thirty years in service to the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

The Governor further said Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar is the recipient of the inaugural Verrier Elwin Award 2003 for excellence in the field of community work by District Administration of Papum Pare district deserves due recognition from all, besides felicitation by the Indian Federation of Working Journalists, Itanagar Chapter for its philanthropic service.

Lauding the State and Central Governments, especially the Ministry of DoNER for their contributions for the hospital, he said, with Jarnail Singh, who is the recipient of the prestigious Prime Ministers award for administration in the helms of affairs of the DoNER, I am confident, the whole region will immensely benefit from the acumen expertise and able administration.

In his presidential address, Swami Smaranananda Maharaj, Vice President, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission said R.K Mission is putting its service on it with the motto, service to man is service to God and called for good team work to address the need of the needy, adding that people not only need Roti, Kapra aur Makaan but also education and good health.

Swami Smaranananda, who inaugurated the 20 bedded Intensive care unit and cardiac care unit earlier, which is first of its kind in the state urged upon the people to come forward and serve the people selflessly especially for the fairer genders.

In his address, Jarnail Singh, Secretary DoNER, who was the Guest of Honour of the occasion placed his appreciation to the visionary policy makers of the State for inviting Ramakrishna Mission to work in Arunachal Pradesh. He also thanked the Ramakrishna Mission Belur Math for their noble service. Immensely impressed by the service put on by the Ramakrishna Mission, Singh assured all financial assistance to the organization from DoNER. Secretary urged them to increase the capacity of nursing school from 20 seats to at least 50 seats and to take up projects to improve science and mathematics in schools for which he assured necessary funding from DoNER and NEC.

Swami Atmaramananda, who heads one of the largest educational institute of the Mission at Coimbatore said, RK Mission always work to draw people from far-flung areas to national mainstream, not in term of religion but socially and through providing necessary education and health care facilities.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Swami Vishwatmananda, Secretary Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar said, although Ramakrishna Mission is basically spiritual organization but we are carrying out social works also, with touch of love, sincerity and dedication. We believe in quality service with spirit of dedication and love, he pointed.

Drawing the background of the hospital, Swami Vishwatmananda, who is fondly know as Secretary Maharaj said the small dispensary which started in October 1979 with six-bedded indoor facility has today become a referral hospital. Now it has facilities, which are first of its kind in the State.

Terming the new OPD inaugurated by the Governor as Temple of Service, Secretary Maharaj expressed his gratitude to the State and Central governments for their helps in both kind and funding.

On the special occasion, State First Lady Anupama Singh inaugurated a photo exhibition, presenting the glimpses of works of the Mission in its thirty years of service.
Ramakrishna Mission Management Committee honored the people who were directly associated with construction projects of the new OPD on the occasion. Er. K.Jini Architech, Er. Gamnya Padu, EE PWD, Nilanjan Rai, Contractor and Tarini Burman were honored with shawl by Swami Smaranananda.

Later in the evening a cultural programme was organized, which included Kathak recital by Nrityangan, Itanagar and Guwahati and classical Dhrupad rendition by Sri Uday Bhawalkar, Pune, the report added.
