Mra calls on governor for his next Expedition

Itanagar, April 12: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Gen JJ Singh assured for hassle free Visa to Everester Tapi Mra, who came to call on him for his American Mountaineering Expedition, at Raj Bhavan on April 12 last. Describing Mra as the role model for the youth of Arunachal Pradesh on being the first Everester of the State, the Governor assured that he will take up with authorities concern including the Union Ministry of sports and others for the funding and other expenditures for the expedition to Mt Denali, the highest peak in North America, reports PRO to Governor.

While extending his best wishes and blessings and informing Mra of the difficult technical climb of Mt Denali, Gen Singh said I would like you to remember the motto, enshrined in Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling, where I received my training from Late Tenzing Norge and Nawang Gombu, which says, ‘You Climb from Peak To Peak’. You have lots more to climb, he added.

Disclosing of his plan, Mra informed that he trying for Seven Summit Challenge that is climbing all the highest peaks of all the seven continents, which includes Mt Everest of Asia, Mt Vinson of Antarctica, Aconcagua of South America, Kilimanjaro of Africa, Carstensz Pyramid of Australasia, Mt Denali of North America and Elbrus of Europe. Mra, who have till date has climbed Mt. Everest on 21st May 2009 and Mt. Kilimanjaro on 19th February 2010, informed it is the Highest Honor for a Climber. Thereafter I will try for Fourteen Summit.

Detailing on the expedition, Mra informed that it is a twenty-two days expedition and Lobsang Phuntsok of Tawang will be accompanying him.
