Awareness programme ON  H1N1  AT Raj Bhavan

Itanagar, August 14: An awareness programme on H1N1 virus was organized by Secretary to Governor, Amit Singla at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar today. Initiated on advice of the Governor, along with the staffs, the officials and security personnel of the Raj Bhavan attended it, reports PRO to Governor.
Conducting the programme State Nodal Officer Dr. L. Jampa stressed on simple public health measure like respiratory etiquette, frequent hand wash with soap, keeping distance, self monitoring of fever, self reporting and isolation to counter the disease. If we have sudden fever with running nose along with breathing problem, we should contact medical practitioner, he pointed.
Dr. Jampa also emphasized on community measure such as social distance, avoiding crowded places, border, port and airport control, infection control practices and risk communication. Since it is a new virus, immunity for the disease is not present in our body. Luckily, we have drug, Oseltamivir, which works against the disease. We have received already received 5000 tablets of Oseltamivir and numbers of collection kits.
Urging upon the people for cooperation, he said, it is not the responsibility of health department only but all from Panchayat leaders to Police personnel, from Transport department to Trade and Commerce.
Giving the background of the pandemic, Dr. Jampa said, it is not the first times such influenza pandemic happened. It was there since 1893. The State nodal officer also dwelled on initiatives taken by Central and State Governments.
