First lady for financial empowerment of women through cottage industries

Itanagar, June 17: Initiate small projects in handicraft, handloom and textiles sectors, so as to enable Arunachalee women to earn their livelihood from home, exhorts State’s First Lady Smti Anupama Singh, while chairing the general body meeting of Muskan, led by her at Raj Bhavan here on June 16 last. ‘We have to ensure their financial empowerment so that they can effort modern amenities, your sincere and dedicated endeavor will guarantee that our children will not stray and led a life of violence and drug addiction’, she added, reports PRO to Governor.

She pointed, it is on the initiative of the Muskan, four Arunachalee children could avail free heart treatment. Many NGOs relating to health and social welfare sectors are forthcoming due to relentless persuasion by the Muskan members led by its chairperson.

Smti Singh urged the members to seriously get down to business in order to give further impetus to its effort in education, women empowerment and health. She also called upon its members, who include social workers, officials from health, Social Welfare and other departments to come to her, so that she can take up the matters at appropriate level, including ministries in GOI. Singh added, along with other initiatives, we have to act as facilitators to other NGOs and welfare bodies. She also suggested for workshop for the under trained teachers through Muskan.

Chairperson stressing on cottage industries as part of women empowerment pointed, we must have market oriented approach. If the entrepreneurs get money, they will be motivated. She also requested the concerned department to get a outlet in Delhi Hut. People like the products of Arunachal Pradesh, as it is pure, exquisite in design and rare. We need a proper outlet for its marketing, she added.

Taking part in the discussion, Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Sangathan Vice Chairperson Jarjum Ete called for remedial measures to motivate self help groups.

The house had a detail discussion on establishment of an Old Age Home, Bal Bhavan, opening of De-addiction centers, creation of rehabilitation centers for girl child and women impinged on by child marriage, workshop on atrocity on the girl child and prevention of immoral trafficking act and activating the Juvenile Home at Pasighat among many other initiatives by the NGO. Resolving to go for health awareness campaigns on breast cancer and anti natal care, the house purposed to bring out pictorial leaflets for self examination on the on breast cancer.

Special invitees, including Capital Complex Deputy Commission Padmini Singla, Papum Pare Deputy Commission Bidol Tayeng, Industries Joint Director Subu Tabin, School Education Deputy Director R. Mibang attended the General body meeting Muskan along with its members, the report added.
