Governor extends best wishes to MRA
Itanagar, May 16: Our prayers are with you, said Arunachal Pradesh Governor Gen JJ Singh, while interacting today with Tapi Mra, the courageous mountaineer from Arunachal Pradesh, who is at the base camp and is preparing to scale the Mount Everest, the worlds highest peak in the next few days. The attempt is a unique one, as he will go for the Summit and back in one go, without establishing any intermediate camps.
Extending best wishes on behalf of people of Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor pointed to him, your endeavour will showcase the inborn potential of our youths.
A mountaineer himself and trained under world renowned mountaineers, late Tenzing Norgay and Nawang Gombu, Gen Singh readily agreed to arrange for one thousand dollars (Approximately Rupees Fifty Thousand) which Mra asked for.
On his part, Gen Singh, who is well aware of the importance of the weather factor, assured to provide the climber of the weather update on a regular basis through the Nehru institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi as their team is also attempting the Everest at this time.
Mra, who met the Governor before leaving for the expedition here at Itanagar has cleared all tests after successful completion of his final round of body acclimatization that lasted for four days from May 1.
Mra, along with Gourav Sharma from Rajasthan, would represent India in the Mount Everest Joint Expedition-2009. Prior to his Everest expedition, Mra had scaled some peaks.
The state government led by chief minister Dorjee Khandu has provided necessary support to Mra’s endeavour, reports PRO to Governor.
