First Lady stress on optimum Doordarshan coverage
Itanagar, Nov. 21: Doordarshan programmes must reach out to the people, especially in the interior places and border areas said Arunachal Pradesh First Lady Anupama Singh, who was on a visit to the Doordarshan Kendra, Itanagar today. It is through our DD News, we are aware of the real happenings across the country and the world, she added, reports PRO to Governor.
The First lady, who recently launched a breast cancer awareness campaign organized by Muskan Welfare Society and State Health Department, which provided media coverage by Doordarshan said, the people should able to watch the entertaining and educative programmes, especially women and health related.
Always advocating for preservation of rich cultural heritages of the State, Singh urged upon the Doordarshan to take extra steps in promoting and showcasing the unique legacies. Interacting with the Doordarshan officials at the Kendra, Singh assured to take up with concerned authorities in order to ensure basic and latest technologies and facilities in the station.
Itanagar DDK, Director S.N. Singh apprised the First Lady on the operational aspect of the station and its initiatives. He also threw light on its shortcomings like storage of staff, budgetary constrains and obsolete machines. Station Joint Director (News) Dinesh Kumar further informed that due to shortage of staff regular news bulletin is yet to be started. At present we have weekly round up ‘Aruanchal Ees Hapte’ only, which is telecast every Saturday from 7.00 to 7.30 pm.
It may be mentioned here that Doordarshan Kendra, Itanagar was inaugurated by P.A. Sangma, the then Union Minister for information and broadcasting on 5th February 1996. It has three wings, which includes Engineering, Programme and News wings.
