Muskan Welfare Society as facilitator for the treatment of children and women with congenital heart diseases

Itanagar, Jan.  25: Apart from social initiatives, like cleanliness, awareness campaign and child care, etc. there is another sphere the Muskan Welfare Society, led by the State First Lady Anupama Singh is silently but spirited pursuing, that is acting as facilitator for the treatment of children and women with congenital heart diseases. Reaching out to the poor and children and economically weak women in far-flung remote areas of State, it has been able to provide new lease of life to at least seven small children and women through renowned NGO, the Rotary International in collaboration with leading Heart Institute like National Heart Institute, New Delhi and Escort Hospital, New Delhi, reports PRO to Governor.

MWS Member Secretary Mamta Riba disclosed that seven children, who include 10 (Ten) years old, Tamos Sinkum, 2 (two) year, Gejom Bagra, 9 (nine) years old, Marcus Biku, 5 (Five) years old, Takar Ekke, 11 (eleven) years old, Hage Yame and 45 (Forty-five) years old, Buti Kigar were provided free heart surgery under the Rotary ‘Gift of Life’ programme. Under this programme of the Rotary International, arrange ‘free heart surgery’ for economically weak children up to the age of 20 years, suffering from congenital heart diseases, she added. Four and half years old, Tage Lapang, Admitted on 16th January 2010, undergoing treatment at Escort Hospital, New Delhi.

Riba further disclosed,t Naharalgun General Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr. Moji Jini and his team of medical experts after accessing the cases referred by Muskan Welfare Socuety provided medical expertise for forwarding those cases to such institution, who have charitable programme for medical coverage. The CMO’s team and our respected renowned Heart Surgeons, Dr OP Yadava the CEO and Chief Consultant Cardiac Surgeon of National Heart Institute, Delhi and Dr. Raman Singh have always gone out of their way to help us. We are really thankful to then and also our first lady for showing ways to provide much needed medical care to our children. I hope we can under the leadership of our President and State First Lady, Madam Singh; the Muskan Welfare Society will be able to bring ‘Muskan’ in the face of some more children, women and families.

 It may be mentioned here, the Society, in collaboration of State Health department has conducted a Statewide Breast Cancer recently, where many women benefited. In order to inculcate adventure spirit in the young children and to boost up adventure tourism, it has conducted a Hiking Expedition in collaboration of Tourism department and personnel and officials of Police Training Center, Banderdewa.

Responding to call of the Governor, Gen JJ Singh for clean Arunachal, MWS has organized a cleanliness drive recently at Naharlagun, with logistic support from district administration and urban development department. Volunteers from Schools, Bazaar committee, All Nyishi Youth Association, Jai Ram Seva Sangha, Naharlagun took part amongst others.
