Governor mourns death of Assam Guv late Mathur
Itanagar, June 28: State Governor Gen J.J Singh has expressed deep shocked and grieved on the sudden demise of Governor of Assam Shiv charan Mathur.
In a condolence message on June 26 last, Gen Singh said, with his death, we have lost one of the finest gentlemen and adept administrator, reports PRO to Governor.
The Governor, who is in Singapore attending the Singapore International Water Week added, during his short tenure as the Governor of Assam, Mathur understood the problems of the people of Assam. Truly, Late Mathur worked whole-heartedly for the overall development of the Assam. Joining all Arunachalees in conveying sincere and heartfelt condolence and also praying to Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul, Gen Singh pointed, late Mathur will always be remembered for his dedicated and sincere approach in addressing the problems in the North East region.
A member of the Quit India Movement, Late Mathu also played a significant role in economic policy making and administration in the post-Independence in his home State of Rajasthan. With his brilliant mind and sterling qualities of independence and integrity, former two-time Chief Minister nurtured a tradition of good governance, Singh recalled.
